Football Career Highlights
  • A wide receiver at University of New Mexico from 1974-77.
  • An eight season player in the National Football League, playing for the Los Angeles Rams (1978-83), Buffalo Bills (1984) and the Green Bay Packers (1985).
  
Stats on Dennard
  • Dennard caught 142 passes for 2,257 yards in his career at the University of New Mexico. (Those numbers are still good for second on the All-Time New Mexico Career Receptions and Career Yardage List.
  • He was named First Team All-Western Athletic Conference selection in 1974 and 1976.
  • Also named the First Freshman to ever garner First-Team All Western Athletic Conference Honors.
  • Dennard was Second Team All-American in 1975, as well as ranking within the Top Three in the NCAA.

 

During his tenure in the NFL, Dennard caught 232 passes for 3,665 yards (15.8 per catch avg.) and scored 30 touchdowns. Since his most notable professional playing stint was with the Los Angeles Rams, where Dennard played six seasons. As an LA Ram, he caught 189 passes for 3,066 yards. Dennard started SuperBowl XIV (1980) as wide receiver against the Pittsburgh Steelers. His finest professional season was 1981 with Los Angeles where he grabbed 49 passes for 821 yards.

After his professional playing days at concluded, Dennard went on coaching at the college level beginning Cal-State Fullerton University as an assistant Football Coach. He worked with running backs and as a passing game coordinator in 1989. He later coached at the University of New Mexico in 1991 handling all of the receiving duties while coaching four positions in the complex run and shoot offense.

Dennard today, continues to work with athletes in his sports camps, motivational seminars, educational workshops and assemblies. Dennard has been a great motivator and communicator as he strives for success in developing young athletes of all ages.
